Melbourne (Wk 14/15)

Weribee South Caravan Park

We arrived in Melbourne on 14/02 after a very smooth crossing.

Werribee Mansion

Disembarking the ferry we drove to Werribee South Caravan Park (west of Melbourne CBD). Lovely park on the bay and a bus route to access Melbourne.

On 15/02, we spent a very enjoyable day in Melbourne with my godson, his wife who live in Melbourne and his parents who are visiting from the UK.

On 16/02 we visited Werribee Mansion which was built by wealthy pastoralists in 1877 with a park and a beautiful rose garden run entirely by volunteers. We enjoyed a walk around the gardens followed by a lunch at the cafe.

Some of the huge gums (the park also had many Bunya trees)

On 17/02 we took both car and caravan for routine services. During this time we are staying in a nearby motel for a couple of nights before the next stage of our trip.

We pick up the car today (19/02) and the van tomorrow when we will head east of Melbourne to visit Phillip Island (MotoGP track and penguins), then Wilsons Promontory NP (the southernmost tip of mainland Australia).

From the ‘next two week’ plan following the green lines, first east to Wilsons Promontory and then west to Bendigo and Ballarat. The ‘bigger picture’ map puts the next 2 weeks in perspective: lots still to see and do!
