Lake Macquarie (Hunter Region) (Wk 5)

View from our van (Belmont, Lake Macquarie)

We arrived at Belmont on Lake Macquarie on December 10th trying to escape the smoke. Not totally successful although had a respite yesterday. The temperatures have dipped from 35c on Tuesday to a very pleasant 23c on Wednesday with a forecast of similar temperatures for a few more days.

We have really enjoyed our first days of downing tools and being a tourist.

Paul braved the sea at Blacksmiths Beach whilst I dipped my big toe in :-). We visited Caves Beach for some fantastic rock pooling, a walk along the Fernleigh track (a heritage rail track) and a walk at Wangi Wangi on the lake. All highly recommended.

Tomorrow (December 13th) we drive about 1.5 hours north for another 3 night stay at Hawks Nest (near Port Stephens).

Guess where!

It’s nice being a tourist and wandering aimlessly around places you’ve never seen before ………you have loads more to see and wander around πŸ˜€
