On 01/03/2010 we headed west from Ballarat to the Grampians. A place we had heard about but were unsure what to expect. Of course we just scratched the surface but all I can say is stupendous!
We started our tour from our base at Dadswells Bridge on 4WD track to the first point of interest which was an disused quarry. The quarry was in use until the mid 1980’s supplying stone to many Melbourne landmarks. In the 1800’s there was a railway taking miners from Stawell and a site was surveyed for a potential settlement which was abandoned due to the Great Depression of 1890.
After a coffee in Halls Gap we headed towards our first lookout, Boroka. As I said in the intro, stupendous! We understood why Halls Gap was named. Not the clearest of days but still amazing.
The next lookout (Reed) was also amazing. Unfortunately it is hard to gauge the height but trust me it was high.
There were so many lookouts to choose from but we decided to move onto MacKenzie Falls. We could have viewed from the top but decided to brave the 260 steps down (and of course up). It was well worth it.
For anyone who has visited Australia they will understand the picture of the Giant Koala located next to our caravan park. I had to take a picture.

this might be the ugliest
Tomorrow (04/03/2020) we head to South Australia (I have been busy using up all fresh fruit and veg as not allowed to take into SA). Firstly to Mt Gambier and then onto the coast south of Adelaide (not long to some vineyards now).
